A New Supply of Lithium

Donald S. Bubar, President and CEO of Avalon Advanced Materials talks about the company’s latest venture, The Separation Rapids Lithium Project.

Avalon is a diversified specialty materials company. We have three advanced projects. One is a rare earth project in the Northwest Territories and also an advanced lithium project in Northwest Ontario, and we’re also looking at redeveloping a tin- indium resource in Nova Scotia.

Our main focus right now is on our Separation Rapids Lithium Project where we’ve just completed a PEA to demonstrate how we can make lithium battery material to serve the growing demand in the energy storage space.
The Separation Rapids Lithium Project is an advanced lithium development project that we’ve actually been working on for almost 20 years now. So we’re little bit early in the game then, but obviously now it’s a good time to be bringing a new supply of lithium to the marketplace, as the energy storage revolution takes hold and creates enormous new demand for lithium.
Recently, we’ve discovered there is a whole new dimension to this resource – there is another lithium mineral called ‘lepidolite’ there that offers possibilities to produce another lithium product to diversify our lithium asset base in this unique mineral resource.
