Graphene Manufacturing Group Unlocks Commercial Uses for a Long-Promised “Miracle Material”

Energy efficiency, cooling and fast-charge batteries position graphene for real-world adoption

What does Graphene Manufacturing Group do?

Graphene Manufacturing Group produces graphene from natural gas and applies it to commercial products that improve efficiency, reduce emissions and potentially enable ultra-fast charging batteries.

For more than two decades, graphene has been described as a breakthrough material. The challenge has always been turning scientific promise into scalable commercial use.

Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG) is attempting to solve that problem by producing graphene directly from natural gas and integrating it into products designed for everyday industrial and consumer applications.

According to Founder and CEO Craig Nicol, the company is targeting practical outcomes.

GMG’s graphene coatings can improve efficiency in air conditioners, heat pumps and high-performance computing facilities such as AI data centres. Graphene lubricants aim to reduce friction in engines, allowing smoother operation and lower fuel consumption. The company is also developing a graphene aluminum ion battery designed to charge in minutes rather than hours.

The ability of graphene to transfer heat is central to several applications. Cooling systems, particularly those used in data infrastructure, continuously manage thermal loads. Graphene coatings can improve heat dissipation and help maintain operational stability.

GMG is also collaborating with Rio Tinto to co-develop its fast-charging battery technology. If successful, the battery could replace diesel powered equipment in large industrial machines and mining operations, potentially reducing emissions in heavy industries.

The company believes multiple addressable markets exist across energy, HVAC and transportation sectors, each representing multi-billion dollar opportunities.

While commercialization remains in early stages, GMG is now exploring expansion beyond Australia into North America, where lower-cost natural gas could support scaled production.
