Donald S. Bubar CEO of Avalon Advanced Materials on A New Supply of Lithium
Donald S. Bubar, President and CEO of Avalon Advanced Materials talks about the company’s latest venture, The Separation Rapids Lithium Project.
The demand for lithium batteries is high and Donald S. Bubar, President and CEO of Avalon Advanced Materials, plans to reach this demand with lithium mining projects.
“Our main focus right now is on our Separation Rapids Lithium Project,” said Bubar. “We’ve just completed a PEA to demonstrate how we can make lithium battery material to serve the growing demand in the energy storage space.”
Separation Rapids is an advanced lithium development project that the company has been working on for almost 20 years. Bubar admits they were early to the lithium mining game.
“Obviously now it’s a good time to be bringing a new supply of lithium to the marketplace, as the energy storage revolution takes hold and creates enormous new demand for lithium,” Bubar said.
According to Bubar, recently Avalon has found a new aspect to lithium mining and the overall production of the mineral.
“We’ve discovered there is a whole new dimension to this resource – there is another lithium mineral called ‘lepidolite’ that offers possibilities to produce another lithium product to diversify our lithium asset base in this unique mineral resource,” Bubar said.
Avalon Advanced Materials is a diversified specialty materials company. Along with the Separation Rapids Lithium Project, they have two additional advanced projects. One is a rare earth project in the Northwest Territories. In addition, they’re also looking at redeveloping a tin- indium resource in Nova Scotia.
