Currently, electric vehicles account for a 2.5 percent share of new car sales. By the end of the decade, that number is expected to grow to around 30 percent. Further, graphite is the second largest component of lithium-ion batteries by weight. "If there's no graphite today, there's no battery. Graphite is essentially what makes up the anode component of the battery, which contributes to the storage capacity of the battery," says, CEO & President, Arno Brand.

Aukam Graphite is the lump-vein variety and is directly comparable to that found in Sri Lanka.  However, it is much more accessible because it exists in an open desert area.  This is additionally beneficial because there is no potential for damage to local flora and fauna.  The site is free of deleterious elements, which allows for a much cleaner and more efficient processing of the mineral thus, making it a more environmentally friendly option.

About the Aukam Graphite Project

There is a global shortage of quality, high grade natural graphite. Here's where Gratomic Inc.'s eco-friendly Aukam Graphite Project comes in. The project is located in Namibia, Africa, which shares the Northern border with South Africa. Moreover, Namibia gained its independence in 1990 and has established a very stable economic and political environment. In fact, Namibia is one of the most desirable mining jurisdictions in the world!

The Aukam Graphite Project had been mined twice, prior to Gratomic Inc. acquiring it. And now, even before a shovel is put in the ground, Gratomic Inc. will be producing graphite as soon as it’s processing plant is commissioned this year. The property also hosts five underground adits which were mined periodically between 1940 and 1974. Five surface stockpiles from the historical mining occurred on the property and 73 composite samples were taken from the lower three stockpiles, assayed and averaged 42% Carbon as graphite (Cg).

"We intend to start in Phase One to mine historic stockpiles that were left on surface from historic mining. That should be sufficient for about two years of mining," says Brand.
