Alkane Resources Expands Production and Scale Following Mandalay Merger

Multi-mine gold and antimony producer targets growth through scale, liquidity, and M&A

How has Alkane Resources transformed after merging with Mandalay?

Alkane Resources has transformed into a multi-asset gold and antimony producer following its merger with Mandalay Resources, increasing production scale, improving liquidity, and expanding access to capital markets while positioning for further growth.

Scale matters in mining.

For Alkane Resources, that realization drove a merger strategy that has reshaped the company.

By combining with Mandalay Resources, Alkane has moved from a subscale producer to a more diversified, multi-mine operator, with production now spread across Australia and Europe.

The rationale behind the merger was straightforward:
increase relevance, improve access to capital, and attract broader investor participation.

According to management, that strategy is already working.

The combined company now operates three producing mines, including two in Australia and one in Sweden, with quarterly production of approximately 40,000 to 45,000 ounces of gold.

One Australian operation has been producing since 2014 and continues to generate steady output, while the Swedish asset adds additional production diversification.

What sets Alkane apart, however, is its exposure to antimony.

One of its mines produces both gold and antimony, a metal gaining attention due to its importance in industrial and strategic applications.

This dual exposure adds another dimension to the company’s commodity profile.

Financially, the company is also in a stronger position.

Management highlights a balance sheet with approximately A$250 million in cash and bullion, alongside significantly improved trading liquidity on both the ASX and TSX.

That capital provides flexibility.

Alkane is pursuing both organic growth through exploration and reserve expansion, as well as potential merger and acquisition opportunities to further increase scale.

The company has also launched an ADR program, broadening its visibility to North American investors.
