CEO Clips - Hemlo Mining: Building on 40 Years of Gold Production in Ontario

Production growth and district-scale exploration support the next phase of one of Canada’s most established gold camps.

Hemlo Mining is advancing a two-part growth strategy in Ontario’s historic Hemlo district, focused on growing gold production while investing in exploration to expand resources and identify new mineralization.

Few Canadian gold districts have the operating history of Hemlo. More than 25 million ounces of gold have been produced over four decades, establishing the district as one of the country’s most prolific gold camps.

Today, Hemlo Mining is focused on building from that foundation. Rather than viewing Hemlo solely as an exploration opportunity, the company’s strategy combines near-term production growth with longer-term resource expansion, creating multiple avenues to increase the district’s potential.

Exploration remains an important part of that plan. A 130,000-metre drill program is testing deeper extensions and underexplored areas across the district, applying modern geological models to a mineral system where much of the historical work focused on shallower and previously economic zones.

At the same time, today’s stronger gold price environment provides a different economic backdrop than during much of Hemlo’s historical operating life. This creates an opportunity to reassess the district through both an operational and exploration lens.

With an established producing district, plans for production growth, large-scale drilling and more than 40 years of mining history, Hemlo Mining is working to build the next chapter of one of Canada’s best-known gold camps.
