Champion Iron is an iron ore exploration and development company that has major projects in the southern Labrador Trough. Moreover, this is Canada’s largest iron ore producing region.
Champion Iron, through its wholly owned subsidiary Champion Iron Mines Limited, is developing eight iron rich projects in a 707 km2 area. Further, each project is strategically located close to the electrical grid, all-season roads and railway lines. This infrastructure also connects the projects to a terminal located in water that does not freeze, on the north shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Bloom Lake
Bloom Lake is the Company's flagship asset. In fact, it has proven its ability to economically produce a high-grade iron ore concentrate.
Additionally, the property is approximately 13 km north of Fermont, Québec and 10 km north of the Mont Wright iron ore mining complex belonging to ArcelorMittal Mines Canada.
Significant investments and structural changes were completed prior to the successful recommissioning of the project in February 2018 including: a new 3.5-kilometre conveyor connecting the mine and plant, an upgrade to the concentrator plan, and access to a new multi-user berth at Pointe-Noire.
"We sit on an asset where over 4 billion dollars have been invested in the project. We are very well positioned to be able to increase value for our shareholders," says CEO, David Cataford.
