Potential to find rare minerals is high in Nunavut
The Premier of Nunavut, Hon Joe Savikataaq, believes that because the area that has been explored in Nunavut is small, the potential to find rare minerals is really high.
However, there are some challenges present. For example, infrastructure and Nunavut's Land Use Plan. "We are working on that right now, to finalize the Land Use Plan so that the industry will know what the rules are.", says Savikataaq. Furthermore, once the plan is finalized, the rules will not change. Further, it is hoped that it will be finalized by the end of 2022.
