Oreterra Metals: Drilling Begins at Newly Revealed BC Copper-Gold Discovery Prospect

A glacier-revealed target in British Columbia’s Golden Triangle moves toward its first-ever drill program.

Exploration in British Columbia’s Golden Triangle continues to attract attention due to the region’s history of major mineral discoveries and large-scale mines. Oreterra Metals is now advancing Trek South, a newly exposed discovery prospect that only recently became accessible following glacial melt.

According to the company, Trek South is new to science and has never been drilled, making the upcoming drill program the first-ever test of the target. Management describes Trek South as a large porphyry copper-gold prospect supported by stacked geological, geochemical and geophysical indicators defined through exploration work completed to date.

Porphyry deposits are among the mining industry’s most sought-after exploration targets due to their giant size and potential for long life mines. These systems are typically large-tonnage deposits that can support open-pit mining operations, making them attractive to major mining companies seeking scalable resource opportunities.

Oreterra notes that the Trek South project displays several characteristics commonly associated with large porphyry systems, including widespread intense alteration of rock at surface, copper-gold-silver mineralization within the alteration, and high-order geophysical anomalies directly below the surface alteration and metal values. Management describes the target geometry as resembling a giant “bull’s-eye” structure underpinned by layered anomalies, rather like a stack of pancakes, identified through exploration surveys.

The company’s maiden drill program is expected to consist of approximately 4,500 metres across eight holes, with a potential second phase designed to expand the footprint if results support continued exploration.

As demand for copper and long-term electrification metals remains strong, discovery-stage copper-gold exploration projects in established jurisdictions continue drawing investor interest, particularly within the Golden Triangle region.
