Imaging tools to visualize microscopic tissue structures during clinical procedures
Perimeter Medical is a Toronto-based company with U.S. headquarters in Dallas, Texas. They're developing, and plan to commercialize, advanced imaging tools that allow surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists to visualize microscopic tissue structures during a clinical procedure.
Cancer surgeons don't have the tools to accurately ensure they've removed all of the cancer in an operation. Packed with advanced technology and intuitive functionality, the Perimeter Optical Coherence Tomography system is designed to examine tissue microstructures during surgical procedures. Perimeter's platform provides cross-sectional, real-time margin visualization. It also has image review manipulation software that allows surgens to identify and annotate microscopic tissue structures. Further, Perimiter's technology gives surgeons ultra-high-resolution microscopic level detail.
"Our technology's resolution is 100 times higher than an MRI and 10 times higher than ultrasound or X-rays," says CEO, Jeremy Sobotta.
Moreover, Perimeter has just received 510K clearance on its novel imaging system. Going forward they'll be expanding beyond breast cancer surgery.
"As we embark on commercialization, we see the potential to really achieve nearly one hundred percent procedure penetration. Because once this is widely adopted, it can be that big of a game-changer," says Sobotta.
