Lithium and the Clean Energy Race
With electrification at the forefront of global development, the need for secure lithium supply has never been more important. Li-FT Power is positioning itself as a key player in meeting this demand through its Yellowknife Lithium Project—one of Canada’s most ambitious hard rock lithium exploration efforts. Located in the Northwest Territories, the project consists of 13 pegmatite dikes and boasts a 50.4 million tonne resource of lithium oxide, covering eight of those dikes. With aggressive exploration milestones already achieved—50,000 meters of drilling completed in just ten months—the company holds one of the largest lithium exploration programs across the country.
A Vision for Domestic Lithium Supply
IR Manager Daniel Gordon notes that most battery-grade lithium today comes from China, and Li-FT Power’s goal is to reduce that dependency by building a long-life, high-grade lithium supply in North America. With a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) in the works and environmental baseline studies underway, the team is preparing for continued drilling later this year. As they push forward, Li-FT Power is aiming to become a vital contributor to the clean energy transition by supplying responsibly sourced lithium to meet North America’s electrification goals.
