EarthRenew: Regenerative Agriculture

March 25, 2021

Transforming livestock waste into powerful organic fertilizer

EarthRenew’s mission is to support a farm system that puts healthy soils and grower profitability back on the table. The company aims to be a driving part of the regenerative agriculture movement. Further, they intend to do so by offering fertilizer solutions that feed the soil in an effort to strengthen the earth’s ability to restore itself. They are building a unique, sustainable facility to generate premium organic fertilizer from animal waste using a natural gas fired turbine that also produces up to 4MW per hour of low-cost electricity. The exhausted heat from the turbine is used to convert animal waste into certified organic fertilizer.

EarthRenew’s technology applies the exhaust from a natural gas turbine to thermally treat livestock waste (cow manure). Additionally, electricity produced by this gas turbine can be sold to offset the majority of the fuel costs. This creates an economically sustainable and environmentally friendly method of organic fertilizer production. Moreover, to date, approximately $70 million has been invested into the development and commercialization of their technology.

"All the majors in the agriculture space are talking about regenerative agriculture. For them, it's a huge shift from chemical fertilizer, but for us, it's the products we use every day," says President and CEO, Keith Driver.
