Operating and expanding Ireland's first gold mine
Galantas Gold's strategy is to create shareholder value by operating and expanding Ireland's first gold mine.
Galantas owns and recently operated a producing open pit gold mine near Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The mine also produces by-product silver and lead. Furthermore, a metals concentrate is produced by safe, non-toxic processing and sold under contract.
Following the granting of planning permission, the company continues to mine underground with around two kilometres of underground development completed so far. Development on-vein produces feed for the processing plant. In addition, the mine has completed part of a drilling exploration program with a significant increase in resources discovered and intends to continue that program.
The Omagh Project
A high-grade resource with significant exploration upside including 26.63 metres @ 8.44 grams/tonne gold (TW 4.5 metres) and 21.6 metres at 9.9 grams/tonne gold (TW 13 metres) was discovered in shallow drilling. Moreover, the mill is producing a high-grade gold concentrate with plans for staged expansion.
The project lies approximately 1.5 hours’ drive west of Belfast. Following exploration results, the project has expanded its area under license to 548.9 km2.
